This amazing community event sees 54 pedal-powered cars from all over the country take over the streets of Ringwood town centre at 2pm on Sunday 11th July 2010 for a two hour sprint race in the style and razzmatazz of “Formula One Racing” .
This off-beat event is something the organisers say, everyone should do at least once, or at the very least come along as a spectator. With estimated crowds of 15,000 to 20,000 the competitive tension, the thrills and spills, the enthusiastic commentary, and the atmosphere of a Sunday afternoon, all go to make this a unique and memorable experience.
Apart from a sponsorship that includes naming part of the course ‘Boondoggle Bend’ (after our successful blonde ale, which will be given an exciting re-launch in April), we will be awarding special prizes to two of the
race categories, and there will be a Ringwood real ale bar out on the course to help quench the thirst of spectators and racing drivers alike. Plans are even afoot to enter our own last minute entry! It may not be the fastest car on the grid, but it will be the coolest! Watch this space.
The Grand Prix and the Ringwood Festival of which it is a part sets out to provide fun and excitement whilst raising much needed money for several charities including ‘Tenovus’, ‘Help For Heroes’, and ‘Cash For Kids’.We are proud to be a part of it.
