This convivial, 17th-century, part-thatched village inn was rescued from closure by Ringwood Brewery and now has a growing reputation for ale and fine food. Set in the gloriously expansive environs of Cranborne Chase, it is popular with walkers - a network of 'droves' is easily accessible from the large garden. With regular mini beer festivals to complement the full Ringwood line-up, a visit to this rural gem is definitely worth the effort. (Copyright from the Good Beer Guide 2007).
