Easily missed, as it resembles a pair of red-brick cottages, the Cartwheel comprises a pleasant bar with low ceiling and a log fire, plus a dining room where good food is served every day. Pictures show the local racing stables - indeed the pub was re-opened by Desert Orchid in 2004. This remote and immaculately preserved part of Hampshire is ideal walking country, but the only public transport is the bookable C61 bus service from Fordingbridge.
